The evening school is participating in a Nordplus project that aims to strengthen language understanding and cultural connections between young people in the Nordic and Baltic countries. The project builds on an existing platform for self-learning, where there are already modules at A1 level in Nordic languages and culture. New modules at levels A2, B1 and B2 in Norwegian and Swedish are now being developed, so that young people in the Baltic countries have the opportunity to immerse themselves further in our languages and cultures.
The project will:
- promote interest in Norwegian and Swedish languages
- strengthen independent and flexible language learning
- create cultural understanding through joint activities and dialogue
- contribute to cooperation, friendship and mutual respect between Nordic and Baltic youth
- prepare young people for studies, work and social participation in the Nordic countries
The project will develop new language learning modules, digital resources and cultural activities. The platform will be tested in Lithuania, and experiences will be shared among partners in Norway, Sweden and the Baltics. Activities include language days for Norwegian and Swedish in Lithuania, a youth gathering in Norway with the theme “Voices & Bridges: Nordic-Baltic Youth Language Forum” , and an international conference – “Languages open doors” – promoting languages as a key to cooperation and understanding in the region.
