At Aftenskolen, we work to make skills more accessible, and we have the resources you need to solve your skills challenges. We can help you with ready-made course packages - physically or online. We can also tailor your own courses to meet your specific needs.
What courses can we help with?
With us, there are many opportunities to reach your goals with competence development. We have ready-made competence packages within a number of topics, and can tailor courses for you with teaching programs adapted to your company.
With us, some of the courses are physical. They can be held during the day, in the evening and at weekends. We have access to a number of classrooms through the Adult Education Act, but can also hold courses at your company.
Other courses are fully digital with us. This means that you get access to our learning platform. There we have built up specific learning paths that are designed for you to achieve your own learning goals. Most often, these courses consist of video lessons and assignments that you or your employee can take at your convenience.
For all our courses, we can customize the location, topic, course format (online courses, virtual courses, physical courses or hybrid solutions) and time. The details of each course can be agreed in collaboration with you.
Which competence packages does Aftenskolen have?
We already have ready-made competence packages in a number of areas. Here we try to divide them into different themes.
Courses with public support
These courses receive public funding and are therefore free for both the company and the participant. The courses are:
- Courses in basic skills (reading, writing, arithmetic, mathematics and digital skills) with support from Kompetanse pluss
- Norwegian language training with support from Kompetanse pluss and Norskopplæringsordningen
- Theory to vocational certificate for internship candidates. In some industries, we have funds through the industry program, while other subjects are participant-financed.
- Funding for skills for restructuring with support from In-company training (BIO)
Courses for those who need to learn Norwegian
In addition to the Norwegian courses supported above, we run weekly Norwegian courses at all levels from A1 (beginners) to B2 (those taking the Norwegian test). We have also created special Norwegian classes for companies where we have adapted the place and time of teaching to best suit the company.

Courses for those who work with children and young people
One of the sectors we've worked with the most is anyone who works with children and young people.
For several years, we have taught the theory of VG1, VG2 and VG3 Child and Youth Worker for practical candidates. If you have employees who do not have a vocational certificate, this course is a good step on the road to a vocational certificate. You can see more about the course for child and youth workers here.
In addition, we have developed a number of offers for those who have other positions but still work with children and young people:
- For example, we have a course that deals with mental health in children and young people. You can read more about that offer here.
- We also have a course on how to manage aggressive behavior, especially using the THA method. You can read more about our course in Therapeutic Handling of Aggression (THA) here.
- We have also held basic courses in special education for a number of years. If you are interested in this, please contact us to find out when the next course will be offered.
- We have separate courses in HSE and First Aid. If you are interested in this, please contact us to find out when the next offer will be set up.
- We have special courses on language development for children and young people, including courses in the Karlstad Model and the Sound Color Method.
Courses in sales and marketing
Together with Falk Media, we are developing a series of marketing courses for small and medium-sized businesses. The first course we launched is an online course about mindset and best practice on social media. You can read more about the course here.
Finance and ICT
We're also working on an entire business package to help small and medium-sized businesses make better use of the systems you use. If you're interested in knowing when these courses are coming, please contact us.
We have already launched a course in collaboration with Norsk Interaktiv that focuses on awareness and routines around IT security in companies. If it's not something you already have in place, I would highly recommend this course. You can read about the IT security course here.
Who is Evening School
Aftenskolen is a non-profit foundation that has been providing training and expertise since 1953. We have a large network of experienced teachers and educators to help you get the expertise you need.
Our vision is to facilitate accessible learning for life. That's why we spend all our time designing the best online and face-to-face learning paths.
On a daily basis, we work with various professional environments to develop new competence packages in different sectors, and we can also develop our own training programs that are adapted to the competence needs of your company.
We also work extensively with the public sector and have a good overview of grant schemes and application processes.
