The course Life Skills in a New Country is a course designed to meet the requirements under §4 of the regulations for the Integration Act.
The course is structured according to IMDI's guide and consists of the thematic areas of migration, health and diversity, and career competence. The goal of the course is to strengthen the participant's motivation and coping skills in the face of new expectations and a new society.
Structure
The course is built around the principles of flipped classroom and dialogue-based teaching.
Every morning starts with a joint meeting among all participants where we go through the plan for the day.
After the joint meeting, the structure is as follows:
- Lecture with interpreter: recorded videos that are interpreted in language groups
- Individual reflection tasks: After the lecture, participants work on an individual reflection task. Time frame: 10 minutes.
- Group discussion: After the individual reflection task, participants come together in their language groups and discuss the same reflection task. Interpreters are present and the teacher will move from group to group.
- Individual work on tasks
After lunch we start with assignments before following the same structure and ending with an evaluation of the day.
Duration
The course is scheduled to run from 9 am to 3 pm, Monday through Friday. Participants are also expected to work on assignments outside of these hours.

Curriculum in social studies for adult immigrants and structured according to IMDI's recommendations. During the course, participants will go through the following topics:
