The course Life skills in a new country is a course program designed to meet the requirements of section 4 of the Integration Act.
The course is structured according to IMDI's guidelines and consists of the thematic areas of migration, health and diversity and career skills. The aim of the course is to strengthen the participant's motivation and mastery in the face of new expectations and a new society.
structure
The course is built around the principles of flipped classroom and dialog-based teaching.
Every morning starts with a joint meeting among all participants where we go through the plan for the day.
After the joint meeting, the structure is as follows:
- Lecture with interpreter: recorded videos interpreted in language groups
- Individual reflection assignments: After the lecture, participants work on an individual reflection task. Time frame: 10 minutes.
- Group discussion: After the individual reflection task, the participants join the language groups and discuss the same reflection task. Interpreters are present and the teacher will go from group to group.
- Individual work with tasks
After lunch, we start with tasks before following the same structure and ending with an evaluation of the day.
Duration
The course is scheduled to run from 9am to 3pm, Monday to Friday. In addition, participants are expected to work on assignments outside of this time.
Course content
Curriculum in social studies for adult immigrants and is structured according to IMDI's recommendations. During the course, participants will cover the following topics:
