The dialogue model is a research- and experience-based model that was developed through the research project “The whole child, the whole course – bullying in kindergarten”. The research has clearly shown that bullying exists in kindergarten, and that the way parents and staff cooperate when bullying occurs is crucial for the children’s well-being and development. The framework plan for kindergartens also emphasizes the importance of good parental cooperation and good dialogue.
The model aims to prevent bullying by strengthening knowledge and clarifying expectations between parents and staff, as well as improving the quality of cooperation. It is easy to use and should be a useful tool for kindergartens in their work against bullying. The model has been developed in collaboration with staff, parents and researchers in Southern Norway, and has been tested and adjusted based on experiences from several kindergartens.
In this course, we will give you an introduction to what the law says about bullying, what the dialogue model is, and how you can prepare, conduct, and follow up on the dialogue meeting.
