Through Kompetansepluss Arbeid , you will work with us to obtain funds to offer free training for employees who need it – and we will help you all the way from application to implementation.
We have extensive experience with adult education and know how important it is to create a safe and relevant learning environment. With us, the teaching is structured so that it is closely linked to the work tasks in your company. The learning takes place in a language and pace that suits the participants, and the results are quickly noticeable: safer employees, better communication and a more efficient working day.
What is Competence Plus Work?
Kompetansepluss Arbeid is a national support scheme from the Directorate for Higher Education and Skills (HK-dir). The scheme aims to help adults strengthen their basic skills in everyday work – whether it involves reading and writing reports, calculating measurements and quantities, mastering digital tools or expressing themselves clearly in Norwegian.
Through the grant, the company will cover the costs of teaching, materials, mapping and follow-up. The courses are voluntary and free for participants, and we adapt both the time and content so that the training can be combined with everyday work.
Norwegian as a key to participation
For many employees with a mother tongue other than Norwegian, language is the key to understanding, contributing and thriving at work. We offer Norwegian language training specifically tailored to working life , where the language is learned through concrete situations from the participants' own workday. Together we practice understanding safety routines, keeping reports, participating in meetings and communicating with colleagues and customers.
Our experience is that good Norwegian language training not only strengthens language skills – it creates security, unity and better cooperation throughout the work environment. When employees become more confident in the language, they also become more confident in their role.
How we help you
When you collaborate with Aftenskolen, you get a partner who takes responsibility for the entire process. We start by mapping which skills the company wants to strengthen, and what will have the greatest effect in everyday work. We then prepare the application for Kompetansepluss together with you, so that you do not have to spend time on complicated application forms and reporting.
When the project is approved, we plan the teaching together. The courses are often conducted in the workplace, and we ensure that the learning takes place in a way that is felt safe and useful for the participants. After the course, we assist with evaluation and reporting to HK-dir.

The application deadline for Kompetansepluss Arbeid 2026 is December 9, 2025 .
